First day of Orientation

The first day of orientation in UCSI is amazing! It's a rare opportunity to mix around with all freshie in UCSI today and I managed to get known with a few course mates today!

First of all, let's start with the itinerary of the First Day orientation:

The whole programme started at 8.00am with the student registration at the ground floor of the Block C. So, I must prepare myself at the morning of 6.30 am and drive out from my residential area at around 7.30am. Luckily, the whole traffic is not congested. I manage to get to UCSI campus in just 15 minutes.

Though there are a lot of cars on the way I went to UCSI, the traffic was smooth. You know you are arriving when you see the Angkasa Condo, the buildings in yellow colour. For your information, Angkasa Condo is just located beside UCSI unveristy south wing campus, thus, most of the students would choose to stay there during their studies. If you are a foreign students, don't worry about the accomodation, you can easily find places to live here.

I arrive UCSI just at 8.00am and fortunately got myself a parking in the campus. Then, I can see a lot of students are heading to the Block C to gather at Dewan Tan Sri Ahmad Razali (Detsar) for the whole day orientation programme. Before that, I went to register myself with the Student Affairs & Alumni (SAA). I could say, their effiency is inpressive, it just took me less than 15 seconds to get everything done. They just went through everthing using the IIS portal and all booklet and student handbook are given in a modern way.

This is what I received:
A booklet with all the orientation information and a card. That card is actually a 2gb pendrive which contain:
  1. Orientation Kit
  2. Student Handbook PDF
  3. Policy Handbook PDF
Everything is done by a card! What an easy way!

After that, all students entered the DeTSAR and wait for the orientation to begin. The whole ambience is relaxing with some background music as well as the Facilitators welcome us with warm smile on their face. I was impressed when I realise that those facilitators are actually one sem older than us. And yet, they can handle the programme well!

Then, the programmes begin. We start with the Imaugration Ceremony with two hosts, who both of them are UCSI senior students. Then, singing our National Anthem, Negaraku. During the session, I manage to meet a guy, who is going to do the exactly same Foundation programme with me. We get know each other soon. Well, unilife right, just mix around with people! Maybe you can know someone who might change your life (?)

Then, everthing went classical with the performance of UCSI School of Music students as the opening performance.

The performance is followed by the Welcome Speech by Student Council. Her speech was indeed motivating! Maybe I would join Student Council one day as a new challenge.

The Vice-Chancellor then greet us with an inspiring speech.

I think this is the most important session throughout the whole day. All the new students have to pledge to ensure that we can pursue a better qualification under UCSI university. Well, I would remember my promise~

Soon, the welcome ceremony comes to an end. Again, the performance is delivered by students from the School of Music. But everything went Pop now as they are singing Style and Thirller.

After the ceremony, the pictute of activites are not taken as we have to empty our hands to get know with each other during the Ice Breaking session.

They eemcees managed to influence the whole hall so that we won't feel so shy to say Hi to each other.

Next, was the IIS and LMS briefing session. I would explain it in another post later on. After our lunch, we had the chance to meet some UCSI graduates to learn from their experiences in the UCSIans' Life. What I feel most important is that, one should really take their study years in university seriously while enjoying your unilife. Just get yourself some attachment during your term break!

The Ice Breaking session again, makes everyone familiar with each other. While in the Faculty Briefing Session, I, as the Foudation in Arts student, was led to the Recital Hall. We were given some informative talk about the IIS course selection and future pathway after the foundation year. And from that I knew, UCSI cooperate with a lot of famous university aroud the world as to place us in a great future. The talk was given by the Director of Centre for Pre-U, Dr. Mabel Tan.

The whole orientation programme for Day 1 ends here! Come back tommorrow for the Day 2 details!
